Join me on my journey to enhance functional mobility through Pilates mobility and strength training!

One thing I know about myself: I am a mover. Sitting still has never felt natural to me.
As a child of the 70s and 80s, I grew up outside. Most days were spent in motion — not structured workouts, just real movement that contributed to my functional mobility.
I galloped my horse through cornfields. I wandered the woods looking for snakes and hidden treasures. I played in creeks for hours. I stayed busy from morning until dark.
Movement wasn’t exercise. It was life.
In elementary school, I played softball. I took all kinds of dance classes and explored Pilates mobility. I danced pom pons in high school. I kept riding my horse.
Ironically, I never thought of myself as an athlete.
In high school, I started strength training and doing cardio. That was my first taste of intentional training — building strength on purpose.
And then, at 19, everything changed.
I broke my back.
Suddenly, the body that had always carried me effortlessly felt fragile. Simple things became difficult. Getting dressed was hard. Sitting hurt. Moving — the thing that defined me — felt uncertain.
But here’s what I learned:
When movement is part of your identity, you don’t give up on it.
Recovery became my focus. I had to rebuild from the inside out — focusing on functional mobility, strength training, stability, awareness, and patience. I began to understand the body not just as something to push, but something to listen to.
That injury didn’t end my story as a mover.
It refined it.
It taught me that movement isn’t only about intensity.
It’s about longevity.
It’s about resilience.
It’s about staying capable for life.
Now, in my 50s, that lesson matters more than ever. I don’t train to prove anything.
I train with Pilates mobility and strength training so I can keep riding horses, hiking, lifting, traveling — living — without hesitation.
Because movement isn’t just what I do.
It’s who I am.
And I intend to keep moving well for the rest of my life.
Every day, meet yourself where you are. My stories and tips might not be specifically about your current journey, but you can adapt them to enhance your own adventure, whether it involves improving your functional mobility, practicing Pilates mobility, or incorporating strength training into your routine.
